SEASON 2026

After difficult season 2025, it was time to reset for 2026. So far team had only 1 bike, so another one was built for the upcoming season. Task was not an easy one, because every ice speedway bike is built, not bought. Using experience from the old bike, project begun on fall 2025. Bike was ready for the start of the season and it proved to be quick one from very beginning. During fall as well new mechanic, Juho Ruuska, was recruited into the team.

First Super cup races in Sweden were not easy ones, because start of the winter was again slow one, meaning limited amount of testing with the new bike. After Super cup, there was small break to test and tune bikes for the big races to come. At Nordic Championship race in Örnsköldsvik, Heikki secured 3rd place.

Next week there was European Championship race in Varkaus. In front of home crowd, Heikki managed to land 1st place from the European Championship! And one week after that, 1st place was secured from the Finnish Championship as well!

After very successful mid-season, it was time to head for World Championship races in Inzell and Heerenveen. Unfortunately, due to suffering injury in Inzell, Heikki was 5th in overall points. Luck turned again in last race of the season in Ice Speedway of Nations, where Finnish team (Heikki, Max Koivula and Arttu Lehtinen) managed to win the gold metal!

SEASON 2025

Season 2025 was not an easy one. Warm temperatures on November and December meant very small amount of testing and practice time. Despite that, speed was on good level at Swedish super cup, resulting multiple podium places. In February at Nordic Championship race, Heikki suffered a crash resulting in broken ankle.  This meant 1 month break from riding, in the middle of busiest race reason. Nordic Championship race was maybe unlucky one, but it was first event where we started to cooperate with Juha Hirsimäki, who is responsible for media material of the team.

Healing was a race against time for the start of World Championship series. Just in time, without any riding after accident, ankle was OK for rounds 1&2 in Inzell. Preparations had not been ideal, but despite that Heikki was on podium on both races. This meant 2nd position in points, before last race weekend in Heerenveen. Unfortunately, bad luck was not over and another accident in Heerenveen ruined medal dreams. Despite having several stiches in foot, Heikki was able to continue racing and gathered valuable point for the championship, finishing 5th overall.

SEASON 2024

Season 2024 was a great success for Huusko Motorsport.  On spring 23, new bike was bought to help making the next step on international level. Old bike was lacking horsepower and overall it needed too many upgrades to make it competitive enough, so decision was made to change the equipment. After season 23, old bike was immediately sold after good success on Finnish championship finals. Just after lakes had melted in Finland, new bike arrived, which meant no testing for that season anymore.

Luckily pre-season training on ice for season 24 started already on late October. Every weekend from late October to end of December were busy of practicing and testing new bike. First races in start of January in Sweden (Super league) showed that pace was there and practice had grown the speed by massive steps. Later in January In World Championship qualifications at Örnsköldsvik, there was no doubt anymore; Heikki had made break-through finishing second and securing a place in World championship finals at Germany and Netherlands.

On February, Heikki won Nordic championship gold and secured silver medal in Finnish championship finals. But best was yet to come in World championship races. In Inzell Germany, Heikki took two podium positions, finishing 3rd both days. Most probably nobody expected that result from newcomer. In Heerenveen Netherlands, solid Saturday and another podium on Sunday meant that Huusko Motorsport achieved Bronze medal from first season on world championship level!

SEASON 2023

Season 2023 had a late start on start of January with traditional Finnish training camp. This time camp took place in Kokkola. First day riding was quite difficult after long pause, but Sunday was already showing positive signals for season to come. It was evident, that bike was now working better and it was no miracle that happened in Kalix 2022.

First race was Finnish championship qualification round, where Heikki won, losing only 1 point in whole race. With the confidence from that race, decision was made to go racing in Sweden in race league called All Svenskan. League was finished in two weekends with multiple heat wins and tons of racing experience for the future. Last race in Sweden for season 23 was in Solberg on very tiny pond track. Heikki finished there just out of podium as 4th, snitching points from World championship level riders on pre-heats.

In Nordic championship race with some bad luck, Heikki finished again just out of semi-final heat (7th). With some better luck, even top-4 finish could have been possible with the speed carried over the race. In Finnish championship final in Tampere, Heikki showed remarkable speed winning almost all of the pre-heats. On final heat, more experienced riders were able to overtake Heikki, finishing 4th in the race afterall.

SEASON 2022

Season 2022 was first full season on ice speedway bike. Despite few positive practice days and camps, bike behaviour was unsettling. Whole season was used to tune suspension, trying tons of different setups both in front and rear dampers. Finnish championship race wasn’t a success, Heikki finishing almost last of the pack.

When season was almost over, Mikko Jetsonen handed over another rear damper to test. This was a game changer; already from next test session, it was clear that now bike was performing better than ever before. After one test with new rear damper, Nordic championship finals were waiting in Kalix Sweden. Race was most successful so far, taking first heat win and finishing 7th as second quickest Finn, which was huge improvement for performance so far!

SEASON 2021

Heikki bought his first Ice speedway bike in late February 2021. Only after two practice sessions, decision was made to participate into Finnish championship race. Next race in Finland would have been next winter, so it was perfect time to see the racing and understand what it takes.

Obviously results were not something to look at, but the rider had a smile after the race! Rest of the remaining winter was used to practice more and try to find suitable suspension setup for the bike. Slowly speed started to rise, but especially on rutted tracks bike was extremely bouncy.
